Family law in the United States relates to family issues. It covers a very extensive set of issues ranging from marriage and cohabitation, to divorce and child custody.

These days, even a happy occasion like a marriage involves a legal agreement between the parties in order to have a mutually beneficial future. In case of marriage, a premarital agreement has to be entered into, which is more or less a written contract that specifies how the property would be divided between the couple and how the alimony would be planned in case the marriage ends in divorce.
